The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX Wagon CT9W is one of the most unique JDM performance wagons, combining genuine Evo IX performance with five-door practicality. Now eligible for import into Australia, it offers an excellent way into a high-spec Evo IX chassis, often at a more budget-friendly level than the sedans. Overlooked by many enthusiasts, the wagon delivers the same core performance and engineering while adding valuable boot space.

Under the bonnet is Mitsubishi’s legendary 4G63 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, paired with AWD and enormous tuning potential. The enthusiast-focused GT features a highly desirable factory 6-speed manual, while the GT-A offers a 5-speed automatic — making it one of the few ways to enjoy genuine Evo IX performance with an automatic gearbox, particularly suited to comfortable daily driving.

With extra cargo space, rear doors and serious performance, the CT9W makes an excellent fun family car, equally capable as a daily driver or weekend performance machine.

The Evo IX Wagon is a unique proposition, sitting alongside performance wagons such as the Subaru Forester STI and Nissan Stagea. With limited production, legendary mechanicals and growing collectibility, the CT9W remains one of the most overlooked and compelling JDM performance wagons.
