Fukasawa Car Imports Club

Keep your classic on the road, the legal way

A VicRoads-approved car club for owners of classic cars and motorbikes — imported or not. $100 a year of membership — covering every eligible vehicle you own — gets you onto Victoria’s Club Permit Scheme: a fraction of the cost of full registration, and exempt from stamp duty.

Why club permit

The best way to keep a classic car on the road

Victoria’s Club Permit Scheme lets an approved car club — us — register an eligible classic or motorbike for a set number of days a year, at a fraction of full registration’s cost. Fukasawa Car Imports Club has run this scheme since 2024, for any eligible vehicle, not only the ones we’ve imported.

 Club permitFull registration
Annual cost ≈ $135 (45 days) or ≈ $220 (90 days) — TAC, plates & logbook included Several hundred dollars, every year, whether you drive it or not
Stamp duty Generally exempt Payable — can run into four figures on a higher-value car
Days on the road 45 or 90 logged days a year Unlimited
Covers Every eligible car under one $100/yr membership One registration per vehicle

Club permit fees are set by VicRoads and reviewed annually — figures above are a guide; we’ll confirm the current amount when you apply. The day cap is logged in a log book each time the car leaves the driveway, which suits a weekend car far better than a daily driver.

Eligibility

Is your car eligible?

Eligibility is set by VicRoads, not by us — and it isn’t limited to imports. Any classic car or motorbike, wherever it came from, can qualify under one of these categories.

  • Classic & historic — built after 31 December 1948 and more than 25 years old. Covers everything from JDM classics like R32/R34 GT‑Rs, Supras and Silvias through to European, American and Australian classics of the same age.
  • Veteran & vintage — vehicles built before 1949.
  • Motorcycles — eligible under the same 25-year rule.
  • A current roadworthy certificate, dated within 30 days of the club’s eligibility declaration.
  • Not recorded as a statutory write-off.
  • If modified, meets VicRoads’ modification guidelines — or holds VASS approval if it doesn’t.

Worth knowing

Club Permits are issued for a fixed number of use-days a year — 45 or 90, depending on the permit — logged every time the car leaves the driveway. It suits a weekend car far better than a daily driver. If you’re not sure where yours lands, get in touch and we’ll check.

FAQ

Common questions

Does club registration replace full registration?

No. It’s a separate, lower-cost pathway for eligible vehicles suited to occasional use — weekends, shows, club runs — rather than daily driving. If you’re planning to drive the car every day, full registration is the right call.

What does the $100 actually cover?

Your annual membership in Fukasawa Car Imports Club — per member, not per car. Once you’re a member, every eligible vehicle you own can be registered under the club. VicRoads’ own permit fee (see the table above) is separate, paid directly to VicRoads when you lodge.

My car isn’t 25 years old yet. Can I still join?

You can join the club any time, but we can only lodge a Club Permit once your vehicle meets VicRoads’ eligibility criteria for its category.

Do I need to have imported my car through Fukasawa to join?

No. We register any eligible classic car or motorbike, whether we imported it, you brought it in yourself, or it’s never left Australia. If we did handle your import, we’ll already have most of what we need on file.

What happens at renewal?

We track your membership start date and last renewal date, and reach out ahead of time so your permit doesn’t lapse. Renewal is endorsed by the club each year to confirm you’re still a current member.
