The Subaru Legacy B4 BE5 is a classic JDM performance sedan combining Subaru’s boxer engine, AWD traction and understated styling. Often overlooked beside the Impreza WRX, the B4 is an excellent budget-friendly option for importing into Australia for those wanting to get into a turbocharged performance Subaru.
The BE5 is powered by a 2.0-litre EJ20 twin-turbo boxer engine, paired with AWD and offered with manual or automatic transmissions depending on specification. Its combination of performance, comfort and four-door practicality makes it an excellent sleeper-style sedan.
The range included performance-focused variants such as the RSK, while the highly exclusive BES S401 STi Version sits at the top of the lineup. Developed by Subaru Tecnica International, the S401 received extensive performance and styling upgrades, a 6-speed manual transmission, Brembo brakes, bespoke suspension and exclusive interior and exterior equipment. With limited production, the S401 is now highly collectible.
