Questions our client ask

Questions our client ask

Got questions about finance, car options, or the import process? We’re here to help! This FAQ section covers everything from deposit requirements to eligibility and repayment plans, giving you the clarity you need to make the best decision. If you need further assistance or have other questions, reach out to us. We’re happy to provide all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Which cars can you import?

Not every car can be imported into Australia.

To import a car into Australia, it needs to be over 25 years old or listed on the Specialist Enthusiast Vehicles list. If the vehicle is older than 25 years, it can be imported without any restrictions.

If your car is not on the list, don’t worry. We may still be able to import it. Please contact us for more information.

Can you import within the specified budget?
Yes. We work within your budget to find the perfect match for your request. With us, you’ll know all the costs for the car (landed and assembled in Australia) upfront before you bid on any vehicle!
Can I finance a used or classic JDM import?

Yes! We provide car finance options in Australia for both used and classic Japanese imports, including:

  • JDM icons like the Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, and Mazda RX-7.
  • Classic imports (25+ years old) that qualify for special import schemes.
  • Modern performance and luxury cars from Japanese auctions.

Our lenders understand the value of JDM and classic cars, ensuring flexible finance solutions tailored to your needs.

To speed up the process, ensure you have all the necessary documents ready.

How long does it take to bring a car from Japan?

On average, the whole process takes 5-16 weeks, depending on the car’s availability, ship availability, port clearance, and compliance workshop certification times. Our team always works around the clock to ensure that you get your car delivered as quickly as possible!

Do I need to pay the whole amount upfront?

No. We offer convenient stage-by-stage payment, so you don’t have to worry about paying the whole sum upfront. We will only request payments when the fees are due, and you will receive an official invoice for each stage.

Can I get in-house finance for car imports?

Yes! We offer in-house car finance solutions and have teamed up with the best brokers to provide you with the most convenient financing options. With us, you can finance the car even before it arrives in Australia.

How do I verify the car’s condition?

Every car we source from Japan comes with a unique condition report produced by independent mechanical inspectors in Japan. These condition reports include accurate information on the car’s mechanical condition and any body defects, down to the finest details, such as minuscule scratches or untidiness of the interior. Additionally, our cars undergo secondary photographs at our holding yard in Tokyo prior to shipping for our customers’ peace of mind.

Do grades matter?

This is one of our favourite questions because it’s a common misconception among buyers and even some importers. Based on over a decade of experience in the Japanese car market, we can confidently say that you should NOT rely solely on auction grades, as they can be highly deceiving.

Auction grades vary from one auction house to another, and some are much stricter than others. For example, the same car might receive a grade of 3.0 at one auction but be re-listed with a grade of 4.0 at another. This inconsistency is why we strongly advise against judging a car purely by its grade, as it can lead to unexpected surprises.

To put it simply, relying on grades alone is a big mistake. If someone insists otherwise, we’d suggest questioning their expertise. There are plenty of great cars with grades below 3 and many poor-quality cars graded above 3.5.

Additionally, dealer-assigned grades are completely different from auction grades. Dealer grades are self-proclaimed, meaning sellers may inflate them to move cars faster. Always look beyond the grade and focus on detailed inspections, reports, and expert evaluations instead.

How Accurate are the Condition Reports?

Condition reports from Japanese auctions are extremely thorough and accurate. Unlike grades, they SHOULD be used as a guide when deciding whether to purchase a car. These reports detail every aspect of the vehicle, including its mechanical condition and inspector’s notes. They also include a “car map” that highlights every panel and notes all paint defects, even the smallest hairline scratches.

Auction reports are conducted by independent mechanics and are highly reliable. However, dealer-issued reports are often self-proclaimed, meaning it’s always best to double-check the car’s condition thoroughly before making a final decision.
