The Honda Acty HA1 and HA2 are compact Japanese kei trucks with a growing following in Australia. Their tiny dimensions, quirky styling and genuine JDM character make them increasingly popular with collectors and enthusiasts looking for something different.
Built to Japan’s kei-class regulations, the Acty uses a compact 550cc three-cylinder engine. The HA1 is the 2WD model, while the HA2 features Honda’s Real Time 4WD system, making it the more capable option for farm, utility and off-road use.
The iconic round headlights are one of the defining features of these early Actys, giving them a distinctive retro look. Manual transmissions are common, with five-speed manuals being a key part of the driving experience.
Factory colours were limited, with white being the most common and blue considerably rarer. The original blue, Bay Blue (PB70), is particularly sought after by collectors.
As Japanese kei trucks continue to gain popularity in Australia, the Acty is developing a strong enthusiast scene. Their age can also make them eligible for historic registration pathways such as Victoria’s Club Permit Scheme, subject to applicable requirements.
