About Nissan 180SX Type X:

The Nissan 180SX RPS13 is one of the most iconic and popular JDM performance cars imported from Japan into Australia. Essentially a hatchback version of the S13 Silvia, it combines a lightweight rear-wheel-drive chassis with unmistakable pop-up headlights and a huge worldwide cult following. Clean examples are now increasingly collectible.

The flagship Type X is the highest factory trim, distinguished by its aggressive OEM aero package and highly desirable styling. Turbocharged versions feature Nissan’s legendary SR20DET, a 2.0-litre engine renowned for its performance, tuning potential and motorsport heritage.

For a more accessible option, Type S models offer the classic 180SX formula without the turbo, making them potentially P-plater friendly where local regulations allow. Earlier base models can provide an even more affordable entry point, with 1.8-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines depending on specification.

The 180SX is also closely associated with the Sil80 — a 180SX fitted with an S13 Silvia front end. These unique builds are deeply rooted in Japanese car culture and are commonly found among Japanese imports.

With its iconic design, hatchback practicality, rear-wheel drive and legendary SR20DET, the 180SX remains a standout JDM classic and one of the most sought-after Japanese imports in Australia.
