About Nissan Skyline R33:
Nissan Skyline R33 (ECR33)
The ECR33 captures much of what makes the R33 Skyline so enjoyable: a straight-six engine, rear-wheel drive and unmistakable Nissan styling. Choose the flowing two-door coupe for its sporting looks, or the four-door sedan for an R33 that is easier to share and use every day.
For many buyers, the GTS25t Type M is the car to find. Its 2.5-litre RB25DET turbo engine was offered in both body styles, with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Factory output was rated at 250 PS for the manual and 245 PS for the automatic. Manuals are particularly sought after and generally command higher prices worldwide, while an automatic makes an appealing relaxed cruiser.
Variants to know
GTS25 Type S coupe — An early ECR33 variant with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre RB25DE rated at 200 PS. It has a smooth, responsive character and was offered with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic. An original example may also be P-plate friendly in eligible states. Buyers should check the particular car, any modifications and their state’s vehicle rules before purchase.
GTS25t Type M coupe — The classic two-door turbo R33, combining its distinctive shape with rear-wheel drive and the punch of the RB25DET.
GTS25t Type M sedan — The same turbocharged straight-six experience with four doors and a more accommodating cabin.
GTS25t Type M Spec I and Spec II — Later equipment grades offered as coupes and sedans. Both retain the turbocharged RB25DET, while their fitted features vary.
Factory catalogues also list a Type M Nismo coupe and Type M coupes with an active limited-slip differential for buyers seeking a more unusual specification.
ECR33 Skylines are a great choice for Australian buyers looking to import from Japan. With coupes and sedans, manual and automatic transmissions, and naturally aspirated or turbocharged engines to choose from, they offer plenty of variety at competitive prices.
The all-wheel-drive ENR33 GTS-4 and BCNR33 GT-R are covered in separate catalogue entries.
