About Nissan Skyline R34 25GT-Four:

The Nissan Skyline ENR34 is the all-wheel-drive member of the R34 range. Sold in Japan as the 25GT FOUR, it combines the R34’s distinctive sedan or coupe body with a straight-six engine and Nissan’s ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system. The R34 GT-R (BNR34) is covered in a separate catalogue entry.

Every factory ENR34 was naturally aspirated, powered by the 2.5-litre RB25DE. Nissan did not offer a turbocharged ENR34, although modified turbo and engine-swapped cars can be found today.

The factory lineup included:

25GT FOUR sedan — The four-door all-wheel-drive Skyline, offered with five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions.

25GT FOUR L selection sedan — A sedan grade offered with manual or automatic transmission during its production run.

25GT-X FOUR sedan — A more generously equipped automatic grade. The X describes the equipment grade, not a different engine.

25GT FOUR coupe — The two-door ENR34. Earlier coupes were offered in both five-speed manual and four-speed automatic form; Nissan’s August 2000 lineup lists the coupe with an automatic.

The factory manual coupe is a particularly interesting specification for buyers seeking both R34 coupe styling and all-wheel drive. As with the sedan, the build date and original transmission are worth confirming when assessing a Japanese auction car.

The ENR34 has also become a starting point for GT-R-inspired projects. Sometimes called “poor man’s GT-R” builds, these modified cars may combine the factory all-wheel-drive body with turbo or RB26 power and GT-R-style bodywork. The nickname describes the project, rather than a factory Nissan grade.

For Australian buyers importing to order from Japan, the ENR34 offers a distinctive route into R34 ownership. Whether the goal is an original 25GT FOUR or a carefully documented build, condition, factory specification and the quality of any modifications are central to choosing the right car.

ENR34 Skylines are now over 25 years old. An eligible example may be considered for normal registration or, in Victoria, a club permit subject to the applicable requirements.
